Core Academic Skills Assessment (CASA) (001/002/003)

Senate Enrolled Act 438 eliminates the basic skills assessment requirement for entry into an Indiana educator preparation program (EPP). Effective July 1, 2019, educator candidates are no longer required to successfully complete CASA or other previously approved alternatives prior to program admission. The bill does not, however, prohibit EPPs from including a basic skills assessment as an admission requirement.

For program admission questions, please contact your preparation program directly.

For questions regarding this legislative change, please visit the Educator Testing section opens in a new window. of the IDOE's website.

The Core Academic Skills Assessment is a customized educator licensure assessment designed to measure a candidate's knowledge and skills in relation to the REPA Indiana Educator Standards.
